Dharmavarapu Subramanyam (20 September 1960 – 7 December 2013)[2] was an Indian comic actor and film director in Telugu language films.[3] He acted in over 870 Telugu movies. He was known for his comedy roles as well as being successful in TV shows. His roles usually are to provide comic relief to the audiences

Early life[edit]
Subramanyam was born into a Telugu family from Komminenivari Palem, Ballikuruva Mandalam, Prakasam district, Andhra Pradesh, India.
Career[edit]
Subramanyam's first movie was the Jandhyala-directed Jayammu Nischayammu Raa. He was renowned for his comedy roles and flawless dialogue delivery. He was the chairman of Andhra Pradesh Cultural Association. Subramanyam had worked as a government employee.
Later, he went on to act in over 100 films, including popular flicks "Shadow", "Bodyguard", "Chirutha", "Businessman", "Khaleja", "Darling", "King", "Nuvvostanante Nenoddantana", "Athadu" and "Okkadu". He also directed a Telugu film titled "Thokaleni Pitta", starring Naresh in the lead.
Television[edit]
He became popular through his comedy serial "Anando Brahma" which was aired on Doordarshan in the 1980s. He also directed the serial. His popularity got him a film offer with director Jandhyala and debuted in 1989-release "Jayammu Nischayammura.". He hosted a political satire program and 'Ding Dong' on Sakshi TV from 2011.
Death[edit]
Subramanyam died on 7 December 2013. He had been suffering from a liver disorder and cancer.
